Child Passenger Safety laws (Iowa and Illinois)
Illinois Law: Any child 7 years old and under has to be restrained in a child safety seat. 8 through 15 years of age weighing more than 40 lbs should be seated in the rear where a lap belt is available.
Iowa Law: Younger than 1 year and less than 20 lbs. must be in a rear facing child seat. Ages 1 year old through 5 years must be restrained in a child safety seat. Children must be in a booster seat or seat belt between the ages of 6 and 11, regardless of their seating position with a vehicle.
